Snee Farm Country Club has hosted The Rice Planters Amateur since its founding in 1973. Its bermuda fairways, small greens and strategically placed water hazards have tested the game's finest young amateurs for over five decades.
The championship trophy, the R.P. Horne Trophy, is presented to the low individual over 54 holes of stroke play.

Entry fee & refund policy
Tournament fee is $495 and includes two practice rounds, three competitive rounds, lunch during tournament rounds, on-course refreshments, and tournament gifts.
To formally withdraw, players must contact the Tournament Director by email. Failing to do so and "no-showing" results in loss of tournament privileges in future years and a "NS" label in media information.
Players who withdraw on or before the no-penalty date receive their tournament fee back less a $50 administration cost. Players who withdraw on or after the no-refund date do not receive a refund. These dates are set annually by the tournament committee.
Registration and practice
Player registration is required before the tournament begins, at the times listed in the schedule above.
Practice rounds are available Monday and Tuesday of tournament week. Call the golf shop beginning June 18th to schedule. Only one ball may be played from the tee during practice rounds, and players must play from the markers as found on the course.
Daily starting times are posted online and at the Snee Farm Golf Shop, (843) 884-2600 (open until 7:00 pm).
Competition & awards
The format is 54 holes of stroke play. The low 20 finishers and ties earn an exemption into the following year's Rice Planters Amateur. Gift certificates are awarded to the top 10 finishers. The champion's name is engraved on the R.P. Horne perpetual trophy.
A fun tradition: Round 1 is "College Game Day", players are encouraged to wear their college colors.
On-course rules
Dress code: proper golf attire required, collared shirts, Bermuda-length shorts (no cargo shorts), shirts tucked in, hats worn properly.
Footwear: metal or traditional spikes are prohibited; spikeless shoes only. Playing in this event requires waiving claims for related injury.
Caddies & equipment: caddies are permitted. Electronic measuring devices are allowed in competitive rounds. Push carts are permitted in very limited supply. All competitors walk during competitive rounds; bags may not ride on electric carts.
Spectators: must stay on cart paths (or at least 30 yards from competitors where no path exists).
Check-in: there is no public address system to call players to the tee. Players must check in with the starter at least 10 minutes before their tee time.
Conduct: unbecoming conduct (profanity, thrown equipment, property damage, abuse toward any person) draws one warning; a second violation results in disqualification.
Pace of play policy is strictly enforced.
At Snee Farm during tournament week
The driving range and short-game areas open one hour before the first tee time. The Clubhouse Grill is open to participants and families (cash or card). Lunch is served daily to all contestants after their competitive round.
